The United States Bowling Congress announced on Wednesday that the inaugural USBC Championship Series will be held in Green Bay in the summer of 2015. The series will be held right here at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley.

The series consists of six separate national tournaments: The Masters, Senior Masters, Queens, Senior Queens, Team USA Trials, and Senior Championships. The finals of the Masters and Queens will be broadcast on national television. The series will bring more than 1,000 bowlers to the area to compete over  26 days. All of the tournaments are scratch except for the Senior Championships, a handicap event that bowlers qualify for through their respective state tournaments.

Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley owner, Dave LaBar said, “You know, there has never been a 900 series hit in the Green Bay association, I think we just hit one right here. This is just absolutely huge, and we couldn’t be more proud to host it. What an honor to be the first city to host something like this. The world’s greatest bowlers coming to Green Bay and seeing our great area and all the hard work to make this work.”

According to Brad Toll, President and CEO of the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau, the events will bring in an estimated 2,000 visitors and generate over 4,000 hotel stays and have an economic impact of more than $1.4 million.

Stu Upson, executive director of the USBC said “We really want to come to cities that have a great bowling heritage. A great bowling culture. Of all the places we talked to, Green Bay was the best.”

We here at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley will be able to run Pro-Am events where bowlers of all ages can compete in a tournament right alongside some of the world’s top professional bowlers. We couldn’t be more proud to be the host center for this series.
